ENDYMION/: Chapter 3: Moonset Soon, Post Blood Moon, Orionids Meteor Shower

Justice Square + Online

Valinia Svoronou launches the last chapter of ENDYMION/: Chapter 3: Moonset Soon, Post Blood Moon, Orionids Meteor Shower. This augmented reality stargazing application reveals a story alongside 2020-2021 celestial events, informed by various myths surrounding the zodiac constellations as well as their use as a means of navigation across the centuries. The underlying narrative of the app takes the ancient Greek myth of Endymion as a point of departure to explore romantic ideas in relation to the contemporary world. Using the tools of astronomy, Svoronou creates a node where mythologies across time and geographical boundaries converge with scientific observation. Svoronou creates a kind of intuitive navigation-reading, where zodiac myths are understood as escape plans, distractions, detours, and wanderings.

On Thursday 21 October at 19:00, Valinia Svoronou welcomes you at the Justice Square where she will briefly present Endymion and stargaze with you Selene, the Moon goddess, and the constellations through her app.
