Hypercomf is a nomadic, multidisciplinary, conceptual design entity based in Greece. Founded in 2017 by artists Ioannis Koliopoulos and Paola Palavidi, it produces site- and time-specific projects that seek to cultivate impromptu narratives via a multiplicity of mediums. Often executed in collaboration with other artists, musicians, and artisans, Hypercomf aims to centre its practice on themes of research related to organic and digital networks, information, the man-machine duality, comfort and discomfort. Its heavily research-based practice informs the creation of a multimedia installation experience. For AB7, Hypercomf is creating a video installation based on the artists’ ongoing project Polycelium, initiated at Pioneer Works in New York in 2019. Articulated via polycelium.net, the project builds on a visual language responding to the notion of “urban ecosystems”, with a heightened focus on energy exchange and relationships within biodiverse systems.
