Primitive Art creates a composition that takes its cue from a true event that involved the duo in the fall of 2020: the finding of an object. As displayed in the pages of their diary from the vantage point of the recording studio window, the band noticed something that was rejected by an artificial riverbank. Mutated by the transmogrifying force of the mud, the entity resembled a plastic toy, a long brass wind instrument, or a fish, depending on the viewing angle. When they finally took hold of it, the object maintained the mystery of its essence; however, it revealed its latent potentiality as a musical instrument and is now the lead sound in their score.
Extract 1 has been especially designed to be listened to as the viewer makes their way to the Biennale. As they take the train or taxi, or walk through the streets of Athens towards the AB7 main venue, they are invited to listen on their headphones and watch the landscape mutate through the sound vibrations of Primitive Art’s work. In it, recurring elements of the band’s work will be accompanied by the aural presence of the proteiform objet trouvé.
